Cape Point entrance fees and tickets

What the Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Beach gates charge, how to pay, and which tours include the entry — with the fee change on 1 November in view.

Cape Point and Boulders Beach are paid areas of Table Mountain National Park, run by South African National Parks (SANParks). Each has its own gate and its own daily conservation fee. For international visitors the current fees are R515 per adult for the Cape of Good Hope section (which includes Cape Point) and R245 per adult for Boulders Beach — R760 for both, valid from 1 November 2025 to 31 October 2026.

These rates change on 1 November 2026. SANParks adjusts its fees every year on that date, and the new rates had not been confirmed when we last checked this page. If you visit from 1 November onwards, expect the new rates at the gate; we update this page once they are confirmed. On the group tours below, the fees are not part of the tour price.

The SANParks fees at a glance

International visitors Adult Child
Cape of Good Hope section (with Cape Point) R515 R250
Boulders Beach penguin colony R245 R120
Both gates together R760 R370

SANParks conservation fees for international visitors, valid from 1 November 2025 to 31 October 2026. SANParks adjusts its fees every year on 1 November; the new rates had not been confirmed when this page was last checked. Source: sanparks.org (daily conservation fees).

SANParks publishes separate rates for South African citizens and residents and for visitors from SADC countries; this page lists the international rates only. For the binding figures on the day of your visit, the SANParks website is the reference.

The fee change on 1 November 2026

The rates above run to 31 October 2026. From 1 November, SANParks’ new tariff year begins and the gates charge the new rates. At the time of our last check the new figures had not been confirmed, so we do not quote any here. If your trip falls in November or later, plan for a change at the gate and check the current rates on sanparks.org shortly before you go. We update this page as soon as the new rates are confirmed.

One tour listing on this site already shows why this matters: the private Gray Line tour still quotes last season’s gate rates on its product page. At the gate, the current SANParks rate applies.

How you pay at the gates

Both gates are cashless, so bring a bank card. On a group tour you pay each fee on the day, on top of the tour price. Several of the reviews we collected show that this catches people out: travellers who expected the entry to be included, found it unclear that the Cape Point entry is compulsory, or were confused about how to pay. Before the day, check on your booking how the gate payment works on your tour and have your card ready at both gates.

What else is not in the tour price

  • The Flying Dutchman funicular up to the old lighthouse at Cape Point is a separate ticket. It is listed as not included on the Gray Line day tour; the path up on foot is the alternative, which one reviewer describes as physically challenging but not impossible.
  • The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway ticket is not included on the Table Mountain combination tours.
★
In short

Budget R760 per international adult for both gates (valid to 31 October 2026), paid by card on the day, on top of any group tour. From 1 November 2026 new SANParks rates apply. The only tour on this site with a park fee included is the e-bike tour, which covers the Cape Point entry.

Cape of Good Hope & Penguins Day Tour with Pickup

★ 4.7 (4,391 reviews)

“Nathan was a wonderful tour guide and very knowledgeable. The trip is a must do! You do so much for just one day and especially if you are travelling without a car. Worth the money!”
Jennifer · United Kingdom · September 2026
Critical review
“Your guide had no banter did not talk a lot but over all sweet girl. It be good if the get your guide explains the exstra cost as tickets not included.”
Guri · United Kingdom · September 2026
Critical review
“The cost of the activity doesn't cover anything, just a 500-ml bottle of water. All activities are paid for separately. At a minimum, the entire trip costs twice the price paid for the tour.”
Verified traveler · Argentina · September 2026 · translated review

Reviewers single out the guides and drivers, the scenery and how much a single day covers; one saw more fur seals and penguins in one spot than ever before. The critical reviews come back to three points, each raised in three reviews: the park entry and other extras are not in the tour price and were not explained clearly enough beforehand; the stops feel short; and the itinerary changed on the day, with Muizenberg or Bo-Kaap left out depending on the guide. The park fees for this tour are listed on this site, so they need not come as a surprise at the gate.

Penguins & Cape of Good Hope Day Tour with Pickup

★ 4.8 (916 reviews)

“We had a wonderful trip, everything was explained very well and well coordinated. Vaughan & Jephta were our guide and driver and both were exceptional. We had a fabulous day and never felt rushed at all. Thank you for such a wonderful experience! 😀”
Jayne · United Kingdom · September 2026
“10 stars Mike and Jeff our guide and driver were spotless Always on-time, perfect communication throughout the tour, clear instructions in pickup and stops, right balance between individual freedom and group management Both very knowleageable and friendly Super recommend it”
Alecyr · Brazil · September 2026
Critical review
“Bobby was a great driver and deserves a raise! The tour gave an opportunity to see loads of different places in one go. It was guide Lusanda's first time with the company, so that left room for improvement in terms of information and directions given. From the practical perspective, it was unclear that the access to Cape Point is obligatory to book and can't be skipped. …”
Anita · Netherlands · March 2026

The praise is consistent: guides and drivers, clear organisation and a day that runs on time. Critical reviews with text are few for a tour with this many ratings. One reviewer found it unclear that the Cape Point entry is compulsory and comes on top of the tour price; on this tour, as on every group tour on this site, it does. One had only 30 minutes for Cape Point and the penguins, one was let down by the fences along the Boulders boardwalk and notes that the same ticket also covers the beach side, and two point to a guide who was new or less engaged.

Cape Peninsula & Boulders Penguin Beach Tour

★ 4.8 (597 reviews)

“Including park entry tickets in initial price would simplify for everyone”
Rob · United Kingdom · June 2026

Reviewers praise knowledgeable guides and a scenic, well-planned route; one recommends the 30-minute walk up to the lighthouse at Cape Point. Three reviews raise the park entry fees: one 5-star reviewer would like them included in the tour price, one found the gate prices had changed, and one was given confusing information on how to pay them. Two reviewers felt the time at the stops was unevenly split, and two say beaches or sights on the itinerary were only driven past or missed. One mentions an optional boat tour that is arranged at the start of the day. The park fees for international visitors are listed on this site.

FAQ

How much is the Cape Point entrance fee?

For international visitors the SANParks conservation fee for the Cape of Good Hope section, which includes Cape Point, is R515 per adult and R250 per child, valid from 1 November 2025 to 31 October 2026. SANParks adjusts its fees every year on 1 November; the new rates had not been confirmed when this page was last checked.

How much is the Boulders Beach entrance fee?

For international visitors it is R245 per adult and R120 per child, valid from 1 November 2025 to 31 October 2026. Boulders Beach has its own gate and its own fee, separate from Cape Point.

Will the fees change?

Yes. SANParks adjusts its fees every year on 1 November, so new rates apply from 1 November 2026. They had not been confirmed when this page was last checked; if you visit from November onwards, check the current rates on sanparks.org.

Can I pay the entrance fee in cash?

No. The SANParks gates at Cape Point and Boulders Beach are cashless, so bring a bank card.

Are the entrance fees included in Cape Point tours?

Not on the group tours on this site — both fees are paid at the gates on the day. The e-bike tour is the one exception, with the Cape Point entry included; its Boulders entry is not listed.

Is the funicular included in the entrance fee?

No. The Flying Dutchman funicular up to the lighthouse is a separate ticket, and it is listed as not included on the Gray Line day tour. You can also walk up.
